Skipped school in the morning due to my throbbing wisdom tooth and a fever.
:/
Went back to sleep and woke up again at 11.45am feeling a little better.
Went back to school at about 2.15pm.
Went to the library to finish up on my Chemistry test corrections (which I failed horribly) to hand in during H1 lecture today.
Okay, partly also cos I was bored at home and I missed school!
(Yes I'm not kidding.)
After school went to have tau huay with Nicole and Regina.
(:
(Yes, even with my throbbing tooth.
Haha oh tau huay is soft too, so it's okay.)
Had my usual tang yuan tau huay hehe.
I love our tau huay sessions.
Haha there's always lots to talk about.
Called my mom up to persuade her to take me to the dentist.
Regina and Nicole were also urging me to just go check.
So Mom took me to the dentistry at Old Airport Road.
Had a mini x-ray done by the dentist and it looks something like this:
My wisdom tooth is growing at a horizontal angle towards my last molar.
The dentist said I should go for surgery to remove it, which costs $500.
:/
Mom had a shock of her life.
But luckily it can be deducted from Medisave,
however we must pay in cash upfront first before it can be claimed from the Medisave account.
The dentist even detected another wisdom tooth,
growing from my upper left set of teeth!
Gosh.
But luckily that one is not causing problems.
Going for another x-ray tomorrow so will be skipping school.
Haii.
The dentist also mentioned that the surgery would take about an hour.
That was when my mind went into a state of paranoia,
thinking of the surgery procedure.
Big pliers, injections, blood and such.
)):
One hour of that.
Gosh.
Hopefully they give me lots of anaesthesia!
Or better yet, put me to sleep for a while!
Walao damn scared la.
It will be my very first surgery.
After consultation at the dentistry went to have porridge at a hawker centre nearby.
Had to drink the porridge.
:/
I love food!
But I cant really chew now.
(Hehe when I was under Panadol Extra the pain wasnt too bad and I could still enjoy my rice and noodles.)
Now my gums are swollen at the wisdom tooth area so cant really eat solid food.
Sad la.
Thanks to Charlene, Regina, Marian and Ashraf for their reassurances and concern.
Haha.
They made me laugh at myself and at the same time, relaxed about it.
Warren made me think of the big pliers when he recounted about his experience.
AH!
I dont want to think about it.
I will recount my own experience here after the surgery.
Hopefully it's not too bad.
'One week of MC!' says Ashraf.
Man I'm gonna miss school la.
Haha.
We shall see.
Haii.
So scared la.
Oh yeah.
On the way home, we saw an old lady looking through the smelly trash bins for aluminium cans.
I heard that they can be sold for recycling.
Mom was saying she sleeps under our block cos she does not have a home.
Gosh that broke my heart la.
How could her children be so cruel to her?
Wish I could help her but I dont really know what I could do.
Give her all my aluminium cans?
Give her money?
Haii what is society doing to help people like her?
Always had a soft spot for elderly people.
Especially when they are eating in hawker centres/food courts alone.
I wish I could let him/her join me or vice versa!
They look so lonely and so poor thing!
They must have contributed much to society and to the building of today's modern Singapore.
(Please pardon my cheeseyness but if you think about it, it's true).
I think they deserve much better care and treatment from both society and their own children.
I just wonder if their adult children feel guilty when they just dump their elderly parents in Homes.
Just because they're slower and less able to do work doesnt mean they're completely useless!
I think when people get really old, they have grown to enjoy the luxuries in life.
They are less able to do work because they have already done so much in their younger days that their bodies are JUST not so strong anymore to tell them that they have done enough; they should ENJOY life.
They start having higher risks of diseases and all that to sort of FORCE them to ENJOY the life they have left and not fret over serious stuff anymore.
They are more attention-seeking because they, now, want the love and care instead of giving it to their adult children since the day their children were born.
It's TIME that their children give their love and care back.
Haii.
After typing this, I'm missing my grandmother already.
Hope I had managed to sort of shift some perceptions about elderly people cos I really think they deserve better.
