Don't test your stamina now.
Eat well, get plenty of rest and treat yourself right.
Yep, that was my horoscope for today,
which coincidentally and perfectly describes what I have to do today.
Haha.
Went back to the National Dental Centre today for surgery.
Left my house at 9am with mommy and papa.
Papa went to sign some Medisave forms for the funding of my surgery before leaving for work.
At about 9.55am the nurse called for me (let's call her Nurse A).
(1 hour and 5 mins early!)
Felt very very very reluctant haha.
Had to practically drag my feet and mommy had to pull me la.
So went to this dressing room to put on a green cover-up gown, a shower cap and shoe covers.
Nurse A sucks la.
She spoke really softly and quickly that I couldnt hear or catch her words.
Me and my mom asked her what were the shoe covers for.
She didnt explain and just ignored my mom, making sure I just wore it.
Walao.
OH CRAP I am beginning to feel the left part of my mouth!
:/
The anaesthesia is wearing off already.
Can feel the pain in the stitches area.
Eowwwwwwwwww!
Ah shit la.
Okay okay mind over matter.
So the doctor came to speak to me and my mom about the procedure of the surgery and its risks (1% chance of permanent loss of feeling at the lip, chin and mouth area where it's anaesthized but apparently I can feel the whole area now.)
After that he was like, alright follow me.
Again, my heart stayed at that very spot while my body followed the doc.
Left my mom there, where she was like, it's okay Zen, I'll wait for you here!
:/
Arrived at this big white room (yes, very cliche) where a muddy brown long dental chair is positioned perfectly at the centre of the room.
Have a seat, says the doc.
He goes and prepare some stuff while another nurse (let's name her Nurse B) came over and positioned the light right onto my face and placed a cloth over me.
The doc then told me he'd be injecting my gums.
*stiffens up*
Open your mouth, says the doc.
*opens my mouth slowly and again, very reluctantly and squeezed my eyes shut*
I didnt even want to see the needle!
Felt a teeny prick at my swollen bottom jaw.
Then another.
Shifted myself due to the pain.
Take a deep breath, says the doc.
*took deep breaths*
Felt another prick.
This would hurt, says the doc.
Felt a painful prick at the top upper gums.
And another.
*cringes*
Sorry, says the doc, Okay good. I'm going to leave you here for a while for the anaesthesia to take effect.
*0pened my eyes and stared at the wall in front of me for 5 mins, feeling the anaesthesia take effect in the left part of my mouth*
Another nurse (Nurse C, a very nice one) enters and told me that she'd be placing a cloth over my chest.
She also placed another cloth over my eyes saying that it'd shield the strong light (haha I didnt fell for that. I think it was to spare me from looking at blood and the scary tools they use).
She was very kind.
I felt like I was 5 years old, the way she assured me and as she wiped my face and mouth.
Haha.
Told me that I could squeak or move my hand from under the cloth if I wanted the doc to stop or if I feel uncomfortable.
She then placed a tube into my mouth, saying that it's saltwater to cleanse my mouth and it's cleaner than normal drinking water and that I do not have to worry.
Haha.
Couldnt feel the left part of my mouth anymore.
After 5 mins, the doc came back in and said he'd be starting.
*stiffens up again*
Just asking, which tooth would you be removing first? I asked.
The lower one, then the upper one, says the nurse.
Okay, says I.
Couldnt feel much, but felt like the doc was digging.
Then drilling.
Eat well, get plenty of rest and treat yourself right.

Couldnt feel much, but felt like the doc was digging.
Then drilling.
Felt liquid (blood?) splatter about.
Heh.
And sadistic me was like, woooo and I cant feel any pain! Wow!
Then I felt thread brushing against my upper lip; he was stitching my gums.
Haha best part was I couldnt feel the pain at all.
Okay, you'll be feeling some pulling yeah? Just relax, says the nurse.
Pulling?!?! my mind went.
Sure enough I felt the doc pulling from my upper jaw.
Was going, Ow ow ow!
It felt weird.
I felt a little pain and pressure, that's all.
Then I felt a piece of something being stuffed in between my upper and lower WTs.
And sure enough,
Okay! Finish! Bite it, the nurse says.
I was like, huh? That's it?
Haha wow the extraction of the upper WT was just pulling.
The cloths were then removed she handed me a ziploc with my bloody teeth in it.
The lower WT was in 2 pieces while the upper one was one whole piece.
Haha was staring fascinatedly at them.
They were still bloody and had one even had a piece of gums on it lol.
Followed Nurse A out to a seat.
A piece of postoperative instructions manual was handed to me and she left me there for about 20mins.
Felt my left cheek.
Gosh it felt swollen!
*looks to the right where a beige opaque glass panel was*
Okay it's slightly swollen alright.
*looks to the front and notices a mirror in a trolley*
Okay I dont think I dare to even look at myself in the mirror.
Haha.
Then Nurse A came back.
Open your mouth, instructed Nurse A.
*opens my mouth slowly due to the stitches*
She took a torchlight, shone it in my mouth, took a tong and took out the guaze in it.
Eurgh so so so so bloody.
She then stuffed another guaze into my mouth and started explaining whatever's on the postoperative instructions manual like a speech.
Do you understand? she asks.
Yeah, but can you tell me what I can eat? I asked, because it stated there 'soft food'.
I wanted to know what exactly I can eat, besides porridge.
Plus it was the only thing I wanted to know and clarify about since I understood the rest of the instructions already after sitting there for 20 mins reading and re-reading it a couple of times.
Okay let me finish explaining to you first. I'll get to that later, she says in that straight face of hers.
And so she continued with her speech and got to that 'soft food' part and says that I can eat anything just as long as it's soft.
Anything? I asked.
Anything, she confirmed.
I was like, huh? Wow how specific!
Okay do you have any more questions? I can explain to you, she says.
Erm, no, says I.
Okay you can leave, she says and left promptly.
I was like, huh? for the second time.
She was so.. robotic.
I dont know how to describe her in any other better word.
So I got up and undressed myself from the gown and shower cap and shoe covers and met my mom outside and we went to collect the medicine.
Blah drinking was difficult.
Was tilting my head to the right side while sipping my iced milo.
Haha.
Plus the fact that I couldnt feel my left portion of my mouth and face I felt like a stroke patient.
I bet everyone who passed by and saw me drinking in such a peculiar manner thought that I was one.
So left General Hospital for home and mommy made meat porridge for me.
Gosh I took 45 mins just to eat it plus my medicine.
Was crying at the first part haha.
I had to remove my gauze and actually look at my stitches for the first time.
(Scary!)
Scooped up a bit of porridge and pushed it into the right side of my mouth.
When I started chewing a little, I felt a slight tug at the stitches area.
Gosh I was like, wth I need to find a way to EAT so I can down my medicine.
Haha plus it tasted really good and I was hungry but I am just so bloody scared my stitches would just tear!
So I just broke down.
Haha it's stupid I know.
But yeah.
Resorted to mashing the porridge and meat up and swallowing them down instead of chewing.
Gave the big chunky chicken meats to Zoe.
Suddenly she gave a LOUD, SUDDEN BARK and I got a shock of my life la!
A grain of rice from the porridge shifted to my stitches area and I panicked.
-.-"
Gosh it's damn scary.
So there's my whole ordeal.
I came back in one piece so I'm very thankful.
Didnt lose my memory or got permanent loss of feeling at my mouth or any risks.
(:
I'm just scared of the stitches.
Man.
So if you have your WTs impacted and you need a surgery, go to the NDC instead of private dental clinics.
You'll save about $200.
It's $300+ at NDC while it's about $500+ at dentistries.
Yep.
